The Story So Far

In 1990, SUDDEN THUNDER evolved from metal band IVORY KNIGHT in order to play more upbeat, positive, and fun tunes. The band went on to play literally hundreds of shows, including many in premier venues. They recorded a 4-song demo in 1990, and their upbeat rocker "Restless Heart" was featured on the compilation CD "Capital Punishment". A full length 10-song CD was released in early 1993, but with the industry heading in the direction of grunge, the band decided to call it quits shortly afterwards. Over the years the guys worked on various projects including ANNIHILATOR, VAMPS, OZZMOSIS, OZZBORNZZ, IMPOSSIBLE ODDS, BIOENCRYPT, DIRTFLY, RAW SUGAR, DR. SQUISH, and a re-formed IVORY KNIGHT. Now, fast forward to 2009. SUDDEN THUNDER once again is reborn! THE THUNDER is BACK!

Meet the Players

Sandor de Bretan: Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Bass Guitar

Sandor has been rockin' since he was 14, and is also an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter.  Highlights:

• ANNIHILATOR, European tour, summer 2004, opening for JUDAS PRIEST.
• Was one of 5 bassists considered for OZZY OSBOURNE in 1997 – to replace legendary bassist Geezer Butler!
• OZZY OSBOURNE tributes VAMPS, OZZMOSIS, and OZZBORNZZ, STYX tribute IMPOSSIBLE ODDS, BIOENCRYPT.

Mike Lane: Drums, Percussion, Vocals

Mike has been playing drums since he was 15 years old, but has been singing since he grew some vocal cords. He sang in many school choirs and has never stopped singing! He also has many hours in the studio and on the stage. Highlights:

• ANTIX – video for “Lookin’ Like Dynamite” single in MUCHMUSIC rotation; SHARECHEZ finalists; extensive touring in Toronto, London, Hamilton, Kingston, Brockville; shared the stage with bands such as Anthrax, Kickaxe, Toronto, Tres Hombres, Randy Bachman, etc. plus the release of a 6 song EP, and 10 song album.
• WAYNE EAGLES band, TROJAN HAMMER (featuring ANNIHILATOR mastermind JEFF WATERS), SMOKIN’ GUN, DIRTFLY.

John Devadasan Perinbam: Lead and Backing Vocals, Bass Guitar

John started singing along to Beatles records when he was about 4 years old and has never looked back. He also plays bass, drums, keyboards, and guitar. Highlights: 

• IVORY KNIGHT – recorded 2 critically acclaimed albums; appeared in the Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles article "O Canada, Our Home and Metal Land! The List - Great White Metal A-Z;" in issue #92, among greats such as RUSH, SAGA, VOIVOD, ANNIHILATOR, EXCITER, and ANVIL; won prestigious slots opening for bands such as W.A.S.P., SONATA ARCTICA, BLACKSTAR (featuring John Ricci and Jacques Belanger of EXCITER), and many more.
• JOHN PERINBAM – released a solo album, Knightfall - produced, engineered, and mixed by metal legend Jeff Waters, and features guests Jeff Waters and Dave Padden of ANNIHILATOR and Dan Beehler (ex-EXCITER).
• DR. SQUISH, TROJAN HAMMER, RAW SUGAR; studio backing vocals for ANNIHILATOR.
